Ioanna Nestoridi is a PhD candidate at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her research lies at the intersection of geopolitics, geoeconomics, and technological competition, with a particular focus on dual-use infrastructure, economic security, and EU–China relations. Her doctoral project, The Architecture of Influence: Dual-Use Infrastructure and Sovereignty in China's Global Strategy, investigates the role of dual-use infrastructure in China's global strategy and its implications for European conceptions of sovereignty, economic security, and strategic autonomy. Her broader research interests include Public International Law, International Political Economy, critical infrastructure, technological competition, trade policy, and European foreign and security policy.

Alongside her doctoral research, Ioanna serves as a Complaints Officer and Case Handler at the European Commission (DG TRADE), where she investigates trade defence cases involving anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures. Previously, she was a researcher at the Institute of International Relations (IDIS), conducting research on Chinese influence in Europe, strategic dependencies, and European Parliament voting behaviour on China-related issues. Before joining the European Commission, she practised as an attorney at the appellate level, specialising in energy, competition, and administrative law.

Ioanna holds an Advanced Master in European Interdisciplinary Studies from the College of Europe (Natolin), an LL.M. in International and European Energy Law from the Democritus University of Thrace, an LL.B. from the University of Nicosia, and a B.A. in Political Science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
