PhD Candidate
Adam Tyler is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research, conducted within the REGLOBE project, examines the European Union's response to US-China rivalry and its impact on EU digital policy.
For his PhD thesis, Adam investigates the role of coalitions in shaping EU (foreign) policy. He uses social and discourse network analysis to understand their formation, influence, and impact on policy outcomes. Furthermore, he analyses how political elites within the EU frame policy options and prioritise competing interests and concerns.
Adam holds an MSc. in Political Science (cum laude) from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specialising in Comparative Politics. His PhD research is supervised by Naná de Graaff (promotor), Bastiaan van Apeldoorn (co-promotor), and Imogen Liu (co-promotor).
